Home weight check

We got out our bathroom scale tonight and Tommy held Lyla to see approximately how much she weighs. We think she is around 16 lbs! Steven didn't weigh that much until he was six months old ... she's only three and a half. Wowie!

Sleep

Lyla has taken to falling asleep on the floor each night ... well I guess she really doesn't have a big say in where she falls asleep since we have to carry her to bed each night. I promise we don't just leave her laying in the middle of the floor at night but this particular night she was so interested in watching the Royals play ball we didn't want to disturb her! At least they were winning when we took this photo!

She is still doing a really good job sleeping and we are keeping our fingers crossed because she and Steven are now officially sharing a room. She usually falls asleep around 9pm on the floor then we mover her to her bed. She'll wake up once at night but not every night and I'll nurse her back to sleep. Then around 5 or 6am I'll bring her to bed with us so that Steven doesn't wake her up with his yelling in the morning. I am feeling quite rested in comparison to how Steven acted at this age! He was up practically every hour and a half!

Meeting the Schulte's

Over the weekend most of the Schulte's were in the area for a family friend's wedding and they decided to stop by for a visit before they left town. It was great seeing my extended family again as I hadn't seen Marilyn and Vern since our last spring training trip to Arizona. The last time Jen came in to town right after Steven was born.

Marilyn held Lyla for quite some time and she was a great baby. No crying, no fussing and she just peacefully drifted off to sleep for a little while. Her big brother on the other hand was quite demanding about getting a piece of cake (it actually was zucchini bread, our attempt at getting him to eat veggies).

Riding the Burro

Just because its funny!

Whitey!

While in Ark City Steven got to play with Whitey, the newest Clark family pet. (that is Grandma and Grandpa Clark's newest addition) He loved it!

Meeting Great Grandpa Clark

It just so happened that I had to fly to Texas and back on our third wedding anniversary and then get up the next morning to be to work early to drive to a meeting in Richmond, MO. Since I wasn't going to see the kids either day because they would be asleep, Tommy decided to make the trek to Ark City to visit Great Grandpa.

I was very impressed that he was willing to take both kids alone for that drive. It took us four hours without kids ... it took almost six for him to do it alone! and on back to back days!

Lyla meets great grandpa for the first time!

Adult shoes

Why are kids so fascinated with wearing their parents' shoes? Steven just loves to put on my sandals and wear them around the house. He ALWAYS puts them on the wrong feet -even if I put them directly in front of the correct feet.

He thinks he is so mischievous when he wears them even though you can hear him clopping around all the way in the back of the house!

Back to Work

Today was my first real day back to work. I was in at 10 til 8:00 but got to leave early because Tommy had class. I spent the day deleting email, checking project budgets and generally feeling sad to be away from my family.

I guess reality had to kick in sooner or later.

Rolling Over!

Lyla rolled over twice today! She was on her belly up on her elbows and she dipped her head to the side and rolled to her back one direction, we set her back up and she went the other way to her back. She is so advanced! (we probably helped her out by putting her up on her elbows but don't tell her that, she thinks she is way ahead of all the other babies!) The picture is right after she made it over the first time we didn't get the video camera out in time to record it!

Garden Fresh

We had a really great dinner tonight ... all garden vegetables with risotto. Green Beans were from our farmer co-op, cherry tomatoes from our plant, and cauliflower from the front yard garden. We roasted the cauliflower with garlic and olive oil and it was yummy however, as you can see it is a funny color. This is the second year Tommy has grown cauliflower so we aren't experts yet. Turns out you need to cover the head with the leaves while it grows if you want it to stay white or else it gets stressed out. Who knew cauliflower can get stressed?!?!
